The Institute's technological and scientific basis includes web and internet technologies, image, video and acoustic signal processing along with remote sensing, communication and navigation technologies. These technologies are implemented in hardware and software development and in application-oriented solutions using scientifically sound methods. The research services are complemented by expertise in prototype development, project management and consulting.

JOANNEUM RESEARCH is co-ordinator of the De-Montes Project, fulfilling their role as link between research and industry. They will cover the Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) integration, contribute to the core functions, cover major aspects of computer vision and photogrammetry, integrate the processing chain, and support testing and verification activities. The main SW framework will be developed and integrated by JOANNEUM RESEARCH.

The Centre for Machine Perception (CMP) at the Department of Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University in Prague is a computer vision, pattern recognition, and mathematics of uncertainty research unit. The expertise of the CMP includes fundamentals as well as applications of computer vision, pattern recognition and machine learning including calibrating multi-camera optical systems, stereo reconstruction, omnidirectional and panoramic cameras based on mirrors and lenses, image matching and object recognition in images.
